Huawei South Africa has risen up the Top Employers Institute’s annual Top Employer rankings and is recognised as one of the top 20 Top Employers in South Africa.
Being certified as a Top Employer showcases an organisation’s dedication to a better world of work and exhibits this through excellent HR policies and people practices.
The Top Employers Institute programme certifies organisations based on the participation and results of their HR Best Practices Survey. This survey covers six HR domains consisting of 20 topics including people strategy, work environment, talent acquisition, learning, diversity, equity & inclusion, wellbeing and more.
“We are incredibly proud of the advances we’ve made as an employer and are honoured to be recognised as one of South Africa’s top 20 employers,” says Huawei South Africa HR director Daniel Jiang. “In particular, we’re proud to have seen improvements in our rating for employee wellness, due to our programmes for staff physical and mental health.”
Huawei also saw improvements in its diversity and inclusion scoring as a result of various programmes aimed at fostering a more unified workplace. Jiang notes that Huawei South Africa will continue to build on its strengths and challenges as well as on areas that require greater attention, including addressing the sector’s major skills shortages.
“We have put in place different interventions to overcome this challenge, mainly through skills transfer and skills training,” says Jiang. “At Huawei, we are focused on increasing our professional talent pool. This year we have a big intake of interns and graduates, whom we hope will grow their careers within the organisation. We also tap into our ICT Talent Ecosystem, which supports training in the latest technologies, such as Cloud, AI and 5G. We have trained over 16 000 people over the past two years.”
Huawei South Africa also saw an increase in its local senior professional experts accredited, and appointments.
“We look forward to these interventions taking root and improving year on year,” Jiang concludes. “Huawei is committed to our staff, as well as their overall wellbeing because we recognise that they have always been, and will continue to be, our greatest asset.”
This year, 11 Huawei representative offices received Top Employer accreditation, up from nine last year. Mozambique and Tanzania now join South Africa, Zambia, Kenya, Nigeria, Angola, Ghana, Botswana, Mauritius and Uganda with the Top Employer seal.
The Top Employer Institute programme has certified and recognised 2 053 Top Employers in 121 countries/regions across five continents.

Huawei in on an active recruitment drive to sign up partners for its new Commercial Division.
The company is building up its business channel system and looking to partner with a variety of different partners with experience in the commercial market, who understand the South African commercial market, and have some successful experience are welcomed.
Huawei offers a range of support services for partners, including training to help them improve their capabilities and grow together with Huawei.
Among the benefits of signing up as a Huawei partner are the following:
Partner support
• Huawei encourages partners to grow together with the vendors, and provides regular training.
• Partners that work closely with Huawei gain increased investment in marketing activities.
• Huawei will assist with project solutions, configuration quotation, and customer development requirements raised by partners during project operation within 24 hours.
Partner incentives
• Huawei encourages partners to actively register opportunities and has released the Deal Registration Reward.
• To encourage partner employees to proactively support Huawei product sales, it has released the Partner Sales Employee Incentive.
• Huawei launched the Fast Track promotion program to promote commercial products for some commercial markets, including Switches, Routers, Firewalls, and Wi-Fi6, achieving fast delivery within two to three weeks, the promotion is well received by partners.
Other incentives
Huawei’s certified partners, golden partners, and silver partners enjoy different basic rebates and capability rebates. In addition, Huawei’s joint market fund, market development fund, and sample support incentives are also available for marketing support.

Huawei South Africa has set up a dedicated department to expand the commercial market, and is inviting resellers to sign up to bring a range of solutions to their small and medium customers.
Currently, the commercial market is promoted through cross-department virtual organisations, but the establishment of the commercial system and the streamlining of commercial processes is expected to help grow the market.
Commercial customers are mainly small and medium-sized customers and reseller partners will be key to addressing and servicing them.
Huawei provides end-to-end digital transformation products and solutions for governments and enterprises, including networking, storage, smart collaboration, and intelligent vision.
These solutions can be employed in a variety of instances such as manufacturing, hotels, retail, education, malls, SMEs and more.
Business scenarios include WiFi 6 for stadium stands, wired campus networks, finance data centres, intelligent wireless manufacturing networks, fully-wireless digital hotels, fully-wireless smart retail, digital commercial real estate, SME campus networks, and much more.
The main target market for Huawei’s commercial business are small and medium-sized clients in business, government and enterprises.
The company is in the early stages of its Commercial Division market expansion and aims to recruit a large number of partners to help cover this wide-ranging markets together.
