The South African football fraternity is mourning following the passing away of ex-Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns defender Anele Ngcongca.

Ngcongca, 33, parished a car accident on the N2 in Richmond, KwaZulu-Natal, early on Monday.

Pictures of his damaged BMW Coupe have emerged on social media as many reels in shock of the sudden death of one of the best left-back players the country has ever produced.

The defender was on the verge of joining AmaZulu, having left Mamelodi Sundowns two weeks ago.

Ngcongca spent nine years with Belgian Pro League side Genk where he shared the dressing room with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois.

He was also part of the Bafana 2010 World Cup squad and played against France in the last group match.
